We have got it all

‘We have sites, water and hydropower, the right people with the right competence. We are well prepared to welcome a battery factory to Vestland County’ says County Mayor of Vestland County Council, Jon Askeland.

It’s the three industrial giants Equinor, Hydro and Panasonic that are making plan for a battery factory in Norway, and many sites and municipalities are ready to welcome such a factory. There is a competition among Norwegian sites and municipalities to facilitate for the cell producing battery factory.

Equinor, Hydro and Panasonic have formed a consortium and are together behind building and operating the enormous factory.

The county has made a prospect sent to the consortium to promote all the sites and the municipalities in Vestland engaged in attracting the battery factory to their site.

Ready for building in 2023

The consortium is now doing a feasibility study, and the plan is to find the three best candidates for the final decision making. The plan is that the site is going to be shovel ready by 2023, and ready for production in 2025.
