It is that time again: One Ocean Week in the One Ocean City Bergen. Want to join us?

This annual, one week event is a celebration of ocean sustainability, innovation, and collaboration, and transforms the city into a global hub for ocean enthusiasts, professionals, and policymakers, offering a mix of conferences, exhibitions, networking opportunities, and cultural events.  

Time: April 5 th. To April 11 th. 2025.

Place: All over Bergen – on sea and on land.

As a city with deep ties to the ocean, Bergen is uniquely positioned to host One Ocean Week. Its vibrant marine industries, world-class research institutions, and commitment to sustainability make it the perfect venue for this global event. Hence, One Ocean Week is a valuable platform to connect.

We are busy bees all week, but would love for you to join at the events where we co-host, with valuable partners in the regional ecosystem. All these events are conducted in English.

We are kicking off Monday  April 7. th, with «2030 Ocean». This event showcases  startups and scale-ups in ocean and climate innovation, presenting their solutions and seeking funding and collaborations.

Same day, we offer the opportunity to an inspiring journey into the heart of sustainable innovation at "Green Region Vestland: Innovation for a Sustainable Future." Discover how industrial symbiosis and green initiatives are transforming Vestland into a leading example of future-oriented sustainability solutions. The event is the first stop on today’s "One Ocean Science Tour," and you can choose whether to continue to the next event or participate only in the one-hour session with Green Region Vestland.

On Wednesday April 9 th. we invite you to an exciting program focusing on international opportunities for businesses in the green maritime sector in Europe and Canada. This event offers a unique chance to expand your business and explore new markets, and you can gain insights from representatives at Innovation Norway’s offices in Denmark, Spain, France, Italy, and Canada.

Conferences and dialogues

The heart of One Ocean Week lies in fostering solutions for sustainable ocean management. The event will showcase groundbreaking technologies and innovative ideas from industry leaders and emerging startups.

Experts from around the world will convene at high-profile conferences, such as One Ocean Summit. H.R.H Crown Prince Haakon will be attending this meeting in the Håkon’s Hall, April 7th. Here, the Crown Prince will listen to both international high-level and young people from all over the world discuss and address opportunities and challenges facing the ocean. The summit is in line with the important mission of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and will focus on the need to find sustainable solutions through connecting people and our ocean.

The summit will be conducted in English and will be streamed at Bergen kommune’s YouTube channel.

Tuesday Aptil 8 th. is the date for the One Ocean Conference, a joint initiative and meeting place across ocean industries, research and academia with the purpose of promoting increased interaction, attractive, sustainable growth and expertise from Western Norway.  Transformation, investment in the ocean industries and value creation is on the agenda. On stage, you will be able to experience business leaders, politicians and other decision-makers, as well as leading players in finance, research and international organisations.

Aims to inspire action

Norway’s commitment to a sustainable ocean economy will take centre stage, with local and global companies demonstrating how innovation can balance environmental stewardship with economic growth.  

One Ocean Week isn’t just for professionals—it’s an event for every citizen and visitors. All can participate in activities such as cultural events celebrating Bergen’s maritime heritage and educational workshops for schools and families.

In 1360, the German Hanseatic League set up one of its import and export offices at Bryggen, dominating trade for almost 400 years. The area, Bryggen, Bryggen has a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
