Osterøy to be national test arena for robotics

The Competence Centre for robotics at Osterøy is now a national test area. The companies in the cluster have successfully emerged as the winner in a nationwide competition, making Osterøy a focal point for the development and testing of advanced robotics technology.

It is the state-owned enterprise SIVA (The Industrial Development Corporation of Norway) that has appointed the newly established Competence Centre for Robotics, in collaboration with the HVL (Western Norway University of Applied Sciences), a national arena for robotics.

The project is part of the prestigious program “Norsk Katapult”, aimed at driving innovation in manufacturing technology across the country. The Osterøy community will now collaborate at a national level, with SINTEF Manufacturing at Raufoss and the renowned Kongsberg industrial community to form Norway’s national team in production technology.

Long term collaboration

For years, the initiative KORT has been a successful joint initiative involving Vestland County, the local high school and local businesses. The hard work and collaboration have now paid off, with Osterøy positioned as a centre for robotic innovation.

Key partners are:

Industriutvikling Vest: A vital partner and co-applicant to Siva.

Osterøy Utvikling AS: A driving force behind the project’s success.

Leading companies at Osterøy, including:
