One Ocean Week event

In an event during One Ocean Week 2024 - a full week of events in Bergen for everyone interested in a sustainable ocean - Invest in Bergen invites you to explore the maritime industry’s business opportunities in the seminar “Greater Bergen: The region of maritime pioneering frontrunners.”

Time and place:

Wednesday, April 17th, 2024

11:00 PM - 12:30 PM

Meet up at Staatsraaden Bar, Bradbenken 2, Skur 7, 5003 Bergen

The event will be conducted in English.

Regulatory changes and self-imposed regulation are driving the maritime industry to cut emissions. The future will be multi-fuel. Alternative fuels have other properties and risks than conventional fuel and new technology creates new risks. Very few companies can do a transition like this on the own.

The solution:

  • New strategic partnerships for all business cases.
  • Cooperation throughout the whole value chain.
  • Pilot projects.
  • Combine new techology with exciting operations.
  • Commitments to adopt the technology at scale.

The Norwegian maritime value chain offers possibilities to do all this. Onboard one of the pilot projects, MS Skulebas, we invite to to listen to experienced and wise industry speakers:

You meet:

Thor Humerfeld, SVP Product Architect, Fuel Cells in Corvus Energy

Jan-Øivind Svardal, CEO Skarv Shipping Solutions / CTO Grieg Edge.

Jørgen Kopperstad, Head of maritime in Norwegian Hydrogen

The Invest in Bergen team

After the talks, join us for a tour abord MS Skulebas. We serve a light lunch.  Hope to see you here!

There is limited availability for this event. Please RSVP to charlotte@investinbergen.no if you would like to attend.

Why here?

A governmental decision to cut Norwegian maritime emissions by 50 % creates a unique hub for innovative and future-based technology for zero-emission solutions for all vessel categories. The maritime sector is currently a frontrunner in international green transition of all maritime activities:

  • Newbuilds, retrofits, and vessel upgrades.
  • Innovative propulsion systems – modern battery technology
  • Green maritime fuels development: hydrogen, ammonia
  • Carbon capture – both onshore and onboard ships
  • Handling and transporting LNG

The car ferry Amepere is another marine pilot vessel, being the the world’s first electrified ferry in traffic, ont the crossing Lavik-Oppedal in Vestland. After Ampere, it did not take long before several of the crossings were made by similar vessel.
