Norwegian environmental technology showcased in Singapore

The Norwegian maritime cluster has a world-leading position within electrification, implementation of new energy carriers and technology that reduces emissions. These solutions are now exported to the rest of the world.

Singapore is a country that offers great potential for companies within maritime environmental technology. The country has one of the world’s largest ports and the authorities has ambitious plans for green and smart development of their port operations.

– In the efforts of transforming the maritime sector, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has launched the programme “MPA Living Lab” to help firms adopt technology to improve business processes. One of the key areas within the programme is Environment & Energy, and our cluster members have a leading position within these areas, says CEO in NCE Maritime CleanTech, Hege Økland.

Opportunities within green Technology

Several of the cluster partners in NCE Maritime CleanTehc (MCT) are already present in Singapore and many of them are considering setting up business there. Based on this, Innovation Norway established the internationalization programme «Global Ocean Growth Singapore». – The program, offers the companies guidance in their internationalisation work, matchmaking meetings with Singapore industry leaders and expert insight into the market, says Økland.

– As Singapore is one of the world’s largest maritime hub Dalseide Shipping Services has established a large office there. I see Singapore as a country with much potential for companies in MCT, as their maritime industry is currently very focused on environmental technology and reducing emissions, says CEO and owner, Tore Dalseide.

Many potential collaborators

The MCT partner companies have visited Singapore. During an intensive week, the cluster partners visited amongst Sembcorp Shipyard, recently awarded a 4 Billion NOK contract by Statoil for engineering, procurement and construction of new build FPSO hull and living quarters of the Johan Castberg field Development
