Media lab is launched in Bergen

A world class media lab for cutting edge innovation and research has now been opened in Bergen, Norway. The new lab represents a vital tool for developing a strong, global industry, enhancing innovation and grow future successes.

The Norwegian Media Cluster is a world leader when it comes to augmented reality, graphics, visualization, digitalization, broadcast and television technology. Now, the cluster is launching a world-class media lab in the new science park, Media City Bergen™, at the 9th floor of the south tower. The lab will be available for members of the cluster by the end of August.

Media lab as a center

The Media Cluster works closely with several other national industry clusters, in the fields of subsea, environmental technology, smart energy, seafood and tourism, among others. Hence, the media lab will also be the center of joint projects between industry clusters. The network is also strengthened by the Bergen Technology Transfer Office (BTO), which works closely with the Media Cluster team.

Bergen Media Platform

Furthermore, the Media Innovation Lab is proud to launch Bergen Media Platform; open data, APIs and technical platforms from cluster companies and international tech partners that students, startups, researchers, teams and project developers can use as their sandbox.

Showroom

There is substantial interest in visiting the cluster and Media City Bergen™ from all over the world. The lab has a showroom where the latest cluster innovations can be showcased. The lab will be a vital part of what we present to both our national and international visitors and partners.

Go global

The Media Innovation Lab will launch a pre-accelerator program for business development, business training, prototyping and research, as well as investor pitch coaching and demo days.

The lab runs a program for internationalization purposes in close collaboration with the global network of Innovation Norway and Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator (ERA) in NYC. The lab has also teamed up with Stanford d.school, as well as other global innovation hubs and accelerators.

Research

The lab will host several major research projects funded by the Research Council of Norway and Horizon2020 program. The lab team also runs a recruitment and competence program for cluster members.
