Launching a new course for seafood professionals

Do you work in the seafood industry? If so, a new course could help you to improve your skills and boost your career.

The NCE Seafood Innovation Cluster in Bergen has just launched Seafood Next, an international programme aimed at professionals who are new to the sector.

The course offers a closer look at how the marine industry works, with 3‑day modules held in Bergen, Trondheim and Iceland.

The hands-on programme includes visits to a hatchery, a fish farm and a processing factory. You’ll also meet with industry members, and learn more about hot topics such as automation and the circular economy.

You’ll have to be quick, however, as the deadline for signing up to the scheme is 15 June 2020!

Greater Bergen – the aquaculture capital of Norway

It’s no surprise that the first module of the course will be kicking off in Bergen, one of the world’s major hotspots for aquaculture.

The city is home to two of the world’s leading salmon producers, Mowi and Lerøy. These two companies produce more than half a million tonnes of salmon each year, and include over 15,000 employees.

Greater Bergen is also home to a range of other, smaller players. The NCE Seafood Innovation business cluster comprises more than 60 members, many of whom are tech startups that are working on making aquaculture greener and smarter.

A busy and educational programme

You’ll get the chance to meet this inspiring seafood cluster while taking part in the Seafood Next course, which will be starting in September this year.

The programme includes sessions on:

  • Research and innovation
  • Digitalization
  • New supply chains and traceability
  • Circular economy
  • Design thinking

In addition to the four physical modules, you will gain access to Blue Planet Academy, a leading digital e-learning platform within aquaculture.

And last but not least, you’ll have the opportunity to network with other seafood professionals during the course, building lasting relationships that will help you to get ahead.

For more information about the course, head to NCE Seafood Innovation’s website.
