Crossover arena for ocean innovation

The brand new Ocean Industries Accelerator (OIA) is a unique place for start-up companies in the ocean industries to work together and to share competence.

OIA is part of Nyskapingsparken in Bergen, a vibrant environment that already includes many of the city’s start-ups. Now they open a new wing where companies in the ocean industries can mingle and inspire each other.

Industry crossovers

OIA gathers start-ups from the cluster organisations GCE Seafood, NCE Seafood Innovation cluster and NCE Maritime CleanTech. These organisations support the incubator together with Bergen Technology Transfer Office.

‘We see increasing collaboration between these industries, and technology is transferred from one industry to another. We aim to facilitate these types of collaboration and ensure that the businesses have ample opportunities to meet and get to know each other’s projects,’ says Hilde Indresøvde, head of Nyskapingsparken, a part of Bergen Technology Transfer Office.

Support from the Mayor

The Mayor of Bergen, Marte Mjøs Persen, had the honour of opening the OIA. In her speech, she emphasised the importance of these industries in Greater Bergen, and the hope for further development through innovative collaboration and searching for new solutions.

We congratulate the 15 companies now present in the Ocean Industries Accelerator, and wish them luck in developing their new start-up companies.
