Greater Bergen has long been a central hub for Norway’s oil and gas sector. The region offers high levels of competence, particularly within the Maintenance, Modification and Operations (MMO) of offshore equipment and tools. All of this will be vital in the ongoing energy transition, particularly regarding offshore wind.

“There’s a great transition in the energy sector, from oil and gas and to new, renewable energy, whether that is offshore wind, hydrogen, wave energy or solar. The industry in Grater Bergen is in this transition and we are looking forward to meeting companies at ONS that want to be part of the new supply chains that now are being developed,” said Invest in Bergen’s Tone Hartvedt.

More wind at ONS

Among the list of topics to be discussed at ONS 2022, offshore wind is expected to take centre stage. Technical sessions and presentations will be held on how to transfer competencies to offshore wind from the oil and gas sectors.

“We have never had this much focus on wind in our ONS programme before, and we are really excited to showcase all the opportunities for Norwegian suppliers looking for a more international market”, said David Ottesen, Director Wind for the Norwegian Energy Partners (NORWEP).

This year’s event will include presentations and sessions on key themes, including technological advances and current trends within the “Net Zero Markets”

Held biennially ONS serves as an arena, bringing together high-level officials and influencers within the energy sector to facilitate discussions and collaboration on energy, technology, and innovation.
