Matre Data Center Site

Matre is a relatively small neighbourhood built up as an industrial area based on the production of hydropower. This area in western Norway is approximately an 80-minute drive from Bergen’s city centre.

Matre includes several plots of land that are ideal for data centers which require a smaller footprint but still need a lot of electrical power. Today, three industrial sites of 18,000 m² in total stand ready to welcome your data centre. The area could be supplied with 100 MW of electricity, and redundant fibre is offered.

Area

Suitable for: Small and medium-sized co-locations and HPC data centres.
Site in brief: industrial park – greenfield plot. Workshop, office, and dwellings available. Close to a hydropower production area.
Area size: a total of 18 000 m2.
Owner today: cooperation of three sites and owners.
Possible construction start date: 8–10 weeks.
How much of the land is settled/filled: all/filled.
Gradient of the land: flat.
Drainage situation: good.

Power

Electrical power today: 12 MW available within weeks.
Possible upgrade: 100 MW.

Fibre

Fibre situation today: redundant fibre at the grid connection point. Dark fibre & DWDM are available.

With regards to connectivity, data centres located in Greater Bergen can connect to London with a 16,8 ms latency round trip. The same route offers great access to Ireland and the US. Data traffic to mainland Europe will either go through the UK, Sweden or Denmark.
