Data Centers
GreenByte is the Greater Bergen data center initiative. We have developed GreenByte Powered land, a business model customising data center sites for your needs, as a service. The solution is based on fully redundant green hydro power with 99.99% up-time and ultralow carbon footprint.
Greater Bergen has data center sites to offer you, based on our GreenByte Powered land solution.
GreenByte Powered land
We offer a solution where local partners take care of everything for you. We develop the whole site and customise the data center to meet your needs. A powered land solution is based upon close cooperation with local partners who are taking care of site development, as well as the building and operation of land and energy infrastructure. All are in close cooperation with the operator.
Circularity will become more and more important both for data centers and for all other power-intensive industries. This is an illustration of how heat from a data center can be used for other buildings and industries
Powered land as a service is an offer for you to have local partners develop the whole data centre in close collaboration with you to meet your needs.
GreenByte and our partners are cooperating with the local utility company Eviny (former BKK). We also have easy access to the local municipalities in the region and a network of companies and people that can easily facilitate the development of your site.
This will give you a safe and secure development of your data center.

Circular economy
Circular economies are becoming more and more important for industries that require a huge amount of power. For each data centre project, there will be an evaluation of which possibilities there are for reusing the surplus heat from the data center. Even though Norway has an abundance of hydropower, it is essential to not let it go to waste. For the green shift, there will be many initiatives that will require our clean, green and sustainable hydropower.
Advantages of our data centers include:
- Abundant hydropower: These sites are powered with locally-sourced hydroelectricity, offering a diesel-free solution that is clean, green, sustainable, cost-effective and reliable

- Low carbon footprint: Using Norwegian hydroelectricity creates much less of a carbon footprint than traditional fossil fuel-based solutions

- Excellent connectivity: Data centers in Greater Bergen are connected to European “data highways” through high-speed submarine fibre cables
